Sir,

Rising prices have made the life of common man very hard and miserable. Every year when the budget is presented in the legislature and new taxes are imposed, the prices of all sorts of commodities shoot up. Though the objective of new taxes is to earn more revenue for development projects and social welfare, the industrialists and manufacturers increase the prices of their projects unproportionally. In doing so, their motive is to earn huge profits and to pay off their additional taxes. But the real burden falls on the common man and the salaried persons whose wages are fixed. With the result, even the bare necessities of life – like daily wage-earner to get two square meals a day. It is the duty of the government to ensure that the poor get their basic necessities of life at cheaper rates. More fair-prices shops should be opened for the poorest sections of society. Taxes should be imposed in such a manner that the burden falls on the affluent sections of society.

Yours Faithfully,

Ramesh Pradhan
