Drug addiction is the worst social evil of modern civilization. It has been spreading like a cancerous disease. The misguided youth and frustrated adults, mostly of the rich families, are its victims. These unfortunate people are becoming habitual or forming an irresistible habit of using drugs like Smack, Heroin, Opium, Charas, Cocaine, Ganja and Brown Sugar. The worst aspect of this social abuse is that if a man once starts taking drugs, it is very difficult for him to leave this habit. Drug addiction is a part of western culture. Now it is spreading in the third world counties of Africa and Asia.
Many countries who are involved in the drug trade are earning billions of dollars and spending this money in spreading terrorism in some countries, including India. The medical authorities have warned us against the ill-effect of drugs on our physical and mental health. Many young lives are being ruined by the drug abuse. It is an abuse which has no parallel. Thus, there is a great need for drug de-addiction movement. It is high time that government and social institutions should organize drug de-addiction camps. A great publicity should be made against this menace. A large number of banner, Posters and play cards should be displayed.
Evils of drug addiction should be highlighted through the media, radio, television and press. The drug addicts should be kept under special treatment. This evil must be fought on war-footing.
