A rickshaw-puller presents a miserable sight. How sad it is that a man pulls a man to earn his bread. A rickshaw-puller can be seen in towns and cities. He waits for passengers at important places like the railway stations, the bus stands, outside the schools and colleges, outside big offices and road crossings. His charges are low. Still he is not treated well by the general public. People hate him and treat him rudely. Some rickshaw puller are also rude and harsh in their behavior.

The life of a rickshaw-puller is very hard. He works in sun and rain, in cold and stormy weather from morning till late in the evening. He carries passengers from one place to another. Some passengers do not pay him the money equal to his labour. Some do not pay him a single penny. The poor rickshaw puller has not the guts to fight or quarrel with them.

He pockets the insult and submits to their dictates. A few rickshaw-pullers fall into bad habits. They squander their hard earned money in drinking, gambling and smoking. It is the duty of the government and the society to do something to improve their lot and conditions of work.
