Essay/Short Paragraph on Heavy Rain Fall in Your City in English Language for Students Exams.

Last summer monsoons approached our area quite early in the middle of May. Suddenly the sky became threatening. Heavy, black clouds, charged with rain, rolled across the sky closed to the earth’s surface. Violent blasts of wind blew. The sun remained hidden behind the clouds for days together, and rain fell in torrents. It rained continuously for days together. It had been quite heavy, torrential and in some pockets played havoc.

Rivers got muddy and overflew their banks. The fields appeared to be vast sheets of water. Streets and bazaars were flooded. The roofs of houses began to leak and mud-built walls collapsed and caused much damage to the household articles. All commercial, official and business activities came to a grind halt. Thousands of people were rendered homeless. Army was summoned for rescue operations.

Floods in rivers caused serious damage by washing away cattle and houses and destroying crops. Many diseases, like malaria, diarrhea and dysentery broke out. Village roads became impassable, outdoor games and outdoor works were rendered difficult. Men became dull and less active and lost their appetite. At last a rain-god took pity and people breathed a sigh of relief.
