The population of our country is increasing at an alarming rate. We add millions of people to our population every year. We can term it as “Population Explosion”. It is suicidal for any developing country like India. At present the population of our country is more than 130 crores, next to China. Control over diseases is one of the main causes of this alarming increase.
New researches and inventions in the field of medical science have reduced the death rate, whereas the birth rate is as high as ever. Besides, we have better medical services. There are no epidemics now. The fear of disease has almost eliminated from the minds of the people. It is heartening that death-rate has declined. But to check the birth-rate is the need of the hour.
Religious taboos, political compulsions, ignorance and superstitions, illiteracy, fatalism are some of the reasons that are responsible for the fast growing population. It is high time that we should take some positive steps to control the fast growth of our population. People should be educated about the need of family planning. We should fight the menace of population explosion on all fronts and on war footing.
