Washing-machine is an electric machine for washing clothes. It is a sort of rectangular or cylindrical box with a built-in tank. The tank is fitted with a propeller made of rubber. At the base of the box, there is an electric motor which is worked by the electric power. It moves a propeller at a high speed.
A solution of hot water and detergent powder (or liquid soap) is filled in the tank. Clothes are dipped in the solution and current is passed through the motor. The machine is worked for 10-15 minutes the machine is switched off, clothes are taken out, rinsed in clear water, squeezed and hung on the washing line.
The dirty water from the tank of the washing machine is let out through the rubber or plastic pipe. These days, washing machines are fitted with squeezer and a drying system. These machines have relieved the housewives of much drudgery.
