Save water, save a life. This slogan indicates the importance of water in our life cycle. Water is an essential component for survival. Water is necessary for the existence of life on this planet. Among all the planets life is present on the earth, only because of water. Water covers 71% of the earth’s surface and the oceans hold about 96.5 % of all earth’s water. Three percent of earth’s water is freshwater of that, only about 1.2 % can be used as drinking water. So, the saying ‘Water water everywhere not a drop to drink’ is right.
We need water for cooking, cleaning, and washing every day in our home. Water is required for growing crops, vegetables, and fruits. Plants and animals need water and they also cannot survive without water. The urban cities are facing a huge water crisis due to excessive use of water. The factories are dumping their waste into the rivers and harming acquit animals and plants. The level of underground water has gone down. We must stop all this if we want to save water and our lives.
There are many ways in which we can save water. We should use only the required amount of water and avoid wastage. We can water the plants in the evening to minimize evaporation. Increase awareness about the save water initiative in your school and neighbourhoods. We need to conserve water to meet the demand. Water is also very important for other forms of life on Earth like plants, animals, and birds. Freshwater is only limited to rivers, groundwater, and lakes. So, it becomes our duty to safeguard what remains of this precious resource for our future.
