Environmental pollution is one of the greatest health and life hazard of today. This problem assumes different forms such as Air-Pollution, Water-Pollution, Food-Pollution, Noise-Pollution, Moral-Pollution, and Paper-Pollution. All this pollution results from the greed of man to become rich overnight. Trees have been cut down on an unprecedented scale and large-scale production by mills and factories has assumed gigantic proportions. Hence the main cause of air and water pollution is unbalanced industrial growth, urbanization and deforestation. Diesel smoke emitted by vehicles also pollute the air. Chemical water flowing out of factories contaminates drinking water. People living near the rivers, throw carcasses into the river and thereby pollute the water. The man has also been digging his our grave by felling trees, which are his great friends.

Trees are natural purifiers of air. Besides, noise of vehicles, factory sirens and loudspeakers, etc. is also other pollutant of air. It leads to neurosis and the other physical disorders. There is also paper-pollution on a large scale. Newspapers publish news and views in such a distorted manner that people are misguided. This kind of pollution is closely related to moral pollution. It is the result of our vaulting greed for materialistic gains. Character-assassination is another form of moral pollution. To combat the menace of pollution, there should be balanced and planned industrialization. Urbanisation should be well placed and diversified. Industrial waste must not be dumped on the earth’s surface or in the rivers.

Poisonous gases should be treated with chemicals to remove their harmful effects. A comprehensive program of tree plantation should be taken in hand and deforestation should be prohibited. Scientific methods should be used to minimize the effects of smoke let out by autos and chimneys.
