A book is a treasure house of knowledge. Books are human’s best friend they neither complain nor demand anything. I visited The New Delhi World Book Fair, hosted at Pragati Maidan in New Delhi. It is India’s oldest book fair after the Kolkata Book Fair. It was a grand occasion for me as I am a bibliophile and a book fair is a place for people like me. I love reading and collecting books. So, I with my friends decided to visit this mega event. The entry was free for the students. The New Delhi World Book Fair is one of the most significant events in the Indian publishing world.
Different publishers had put up their stalls and displayed their books in these stalls. The book fair attracted a large number of people. There were local publishers, National publishers, and International publishers with various kinds of books, Periodicals, and Teaching Aids. Book fair is an opportunity to sail on the ocean of books, to meet many authors. So, I and my friends were amazed and very happy. There were people from different parts of the country.
There were more than 600 publishers from India and overseas exhibiting books in different languages including English, Hindi, Urdu, and, Sanskrit across 1300 stalls. To promote books and the habit of reading among children and young adults various activities like film screening, book releasing, discussions, story-telling sessions, and creative writing were organized. I bought 5 books and one dictionary. We enjoyed it a lot and it was an amazing experience. I am very excited to read these books.
