A Place of Worship : Essays/Paragraphs in English Language for Exams.

People belonging to different faiths and beliefs have their own places of worship and prayers. The Hindus pray to their God in temples, Sikhs in Gurudwara, Christians in Churches and Muslims in Mosques.

A place of worship must present an atmosphere of peace and calm. It should be far away from the dim and noise of the city life and madding crowd. Better if it is located in natural surroundings and healthful environment. Unfortunately, our places of worship are found in the heart of the city, in congested and uncongenial places. A temple, a worship place of Hindus, is a well decorated and artfully built place. In it an idol of the deity, in whose honour the temple is erected, is placed. It attracts a large number of devotees, particularly in the morning and evening hours. Muslims say their mass prayers in mosque, especially on Fridays. Christians go to the Church on Sundays for service. Sikhs throng the Gurudwara for ‘Bhajans’ and ‘Kirtan’.

Unfortunately, these days, places of worship have lost their ancient glory and sanctity. They have become the centres of heated discussion, places of refuge of the anti-national elements, hiding places for militants and centres of unhealthy politics. Thus, they are threatening the secular fibre (strength) and unity of the country.
