The Farmer and His Lazy Sons Moral Story

Once upon a time in a peaceful village, there lived a hardworking farmer named John. John was known throughout the village for his diligence and dedication to his farm. He worked from sunrise to sunset, tending to his crops and animals with care and love.

John had three sons, who, unlike their father, were lazy and lacked ambition. They would often laze around, shirking their responsibilities and leaving all the work to their father.

One day, as John grew older and weaker, he called his sons to his side. “My dear sons,” he began, “I am getting old, and soon I will no longer be able to tend to the farm. It is time for you to take over and carry on the legacy of our family.”

The lazy sons exchanged uneasy glances, knowing they were not prepared to take on such a responsibility. “Father, we will do as you say,” they replied reluctantly.

John, sensing their reluctance, devised a plan to teach his sons the value of hard work and responsibility. He called them to the barn and handed each of them a bundle of sticks.

“I want you to break these sticks,” he instructed. The lazy sons, thinking it would be an easy task, eagerly grabbed the sticks and began to break them one by one. To their surprise, no matter how hard they tried, they could not break the sticks.

Confused and frustrated, the sons turned to their father for help. John smiled knowingly and took the bundle of sticks from them. He then untied the bundle and handed each son a single stick.

“Now, try to break these sticks,” he said. The sons, emboldened by the simplicity of the task, easily snapped the single sticks in half.

John looked at his sons with a solemn expression. “My dear sons, just as the bundle of sticks was unbreakable when united, so too is our family strong when we work together. If you continue to be lazy and selfish, our family will crumble like the unbroken bundle of sticks. But if you unite and work together, you will be unstoppable.”

The lazy sons hung their heads in shame, realizing the error of their ways. From that day forward, they resolved to change their ways and work together to tend to the farm.
