Walking to School on A Rainy Day : English Essay/Letter Writing For School Students

The months of May and June are terrible in India. It becomes scorching heat during the day & nights are stuffy. Everybody waits for the rains to come. In the terrible heat it becomes almost difficult to go the school or to office. The shop-keepers and other workers feel a lot of exhaustion during the season.

Yesterday I was on my way to school. It was unreachable heat. The rainless firmament was pouring heat and not a patch of cloud was visible. I was perspired from head to foot and thinking to return home. Nearing the school, a cool breeze with cumulus of clouds came from one direction giving me a lot of relief and repose. Soon it became intorrents with darkness everywhere. Nothing was visible. People were trying to search for a sheltering place but it was of no use to get it as one got wet in the twinkling of an eye.

By chance I ran and entered the nearest shop on the road side. I was completely drenched when I looked towards my school bag, most of the books had become wet. My lunch packet was also in a disturbed condition. People in the bazaars and streets were seen running for safety. The clouds were thundering and thre were flashes of lighting. The water had gathered in the low-lying areas near the roads and streets were full of water.

The traffic had come to a stand still. Small children can be seen with small paper boats in the streets. They were splashing water on each other. A careless walker fell with a thud and the other people felt splashed water as they passed. As the clouds rolled away, it became clear after half an hour. Instead of going to school, I returned home, changed clothes, put the books & copies for becoming dry, sipped tea and took rest. The rain was welcomed be all and gave soothing effect to every living creature.
