Scissors or A Pair of Scissors : Factual Descriptions Essay/Paragraph of Instruments in English Language for Exams.
A pair of scissors is a small tool that you use for cutting paper, cloth, leather and similar materials. It consists of two sharp blades and two rings in which you put your thumb and two or three of your fingers. You move your thumb and fingers so that the blades move together and cut something. Its blades are connected by a rivet or screw located between the handles and blades. The rivet also forms the pivot for the movement of the blades.
Scissors are always made of steel. But the blades must be accurately tempered to equal degree of hardness and elasticity. Surgical scissors, and other kinds of scissors are also made of stainless steel. If the scissors are to cut well, the blades should touch in two places only – at the joint and at a single spot along the blades, which is where the cutting takes place.
The blades are made to twist or curve towards one another and when completely closed, the points of the blades should touch. The blades need sharpening by experts. Each blade is passed lightly across a grinding wheel to restore the sharpness of the edge-angle.
