Noise is unpleasant sounds that disturb us all. It is a form of pollution which has become very deadly nowadays. The nuisance of sound pollution is steadily on the rise, especially in urban cities and areas. Noise pollution may not seem as harmful as air and water pollution but it is gradually affecting human health. Noise is measured in decibels or DB. There are numerous sources of noise pollution. One of them is industrializations. Industries use heavy equipment like generators and compressors etc that makes a high-pitched sound that causes disturbance. Road traffic is another main cause of noise pollution in India. People honk unnecessarily on roads. People play loud music in cars in the traffic which causes noise pollution and disturbance.
The construction of roads, buildings, and highways creates a lot of noise and disturbance. Furthermore, social events like marriages, parties, and functions create a lot of nuisance in the residential areas. It also creates problems for students as they get disturbed by the loud music played in these events. The use of firecrackers during festivals is also a source of noise pollution. Fire Crackers are not just causing noise pollution but also air pollution.
Noise pollution can affect the hearing ability of a person, leading to hearing impairment to even loss of hearing. Noise pollution is extremely dangerous for elderly people and heart patients. It causes an increase in hypertension and blood pressure. And not only humans noise pollution also affects animals. We must take some steps to control noise pollution. We must make people aware of the impact of noise pollution and encourage them to adopt ways that do not contribute to noise pollution.
