Harmful Effects of Smoking OR Smoking is Injurious to Health : English Article/Essay for Student Exams

Smoking is injurious to health. Our society has become a victim of smoking. All know that smoking is very injurious to our health and hygiene. It endangers our life and poses a great health hazard. Children use it for the sake of fun in their tender age. After some time they become an addict to it.

Smoking is a very bad and unpleasant habit. It causes a great damage to our mind and body. Not only the smoker but his adjacent too is put in a great loss.

A man who uses tobacco in one form or the other, falls a prey to so many ailments. His digestion is severely affected. It becomes poor and he is unable to digest food properly. Consequently he becomes ill and thereby his hunger is lost. His health starts breaking down slowly but surely. His teeth start falling and become worse. It is a slow poison which opens piercing channels for his death. Many people have lost their precious lives leaving their family in great anxiety and disturbance.

Too much of smoking poisons our blood. Our nerves become hollow and ruined. Our heart, lungs, the respiratory and circulatory systems get impaired.

Society and Government should work together to root out this social evil. Different State Governments have initiated some commendable steps in this regard. They have banned smoking and shops containing cigarettes etc. within a radius of 100 meters or more where there is any institution or school or public place. Smoking at the public places has been banned and the offender is punished.
