The tube used to produce X-rays is called an X-ray tube. It consists of a vacuum-sealed glass or metal envelope containing a cathode and an anode. When a high voltage is applied across the cathode and anode, electrons are accelerated from the cathode towards the anode. When the high-speed electrons strike the anode, they undergo rapid deceleration, resulting in the production of X-rays through a process known as bremsstrahlung radiation.

X-ray tubes are essential components of X-ray machines used in medical imaging, industrial inspection, security screening, and research applications. They provide a controlled source of X-rays that can penetrate materials and produce diagnostic images or detect flaws and irregularities.
