The density of ice is approximately 0.917 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³) at a temperature of 0°C (32°F). This density is lower than that of liquid water, which is why ice floats on water. When water freezes into ice, its molecules form a crystalline structure that results in a less dense solid compared to the liquid form.
