Platelets play a crucial role in hemostasis, where they adhere to damaged blood vessels, aggregate together, and release clotting factors to stop bleeding. Without platelets, wounds would continue to bleed uncontrollably, potentially resulting in life-threatening hemorrhage. Additionally, internal bleeding would be difficult to control. Overall, the absence of platelets would significantly impair the body's ability to maintain hemostasis, leading to increased susceptibility to bleeding and posing a serious risk to health and survival.
