Differences in Transport in Xylem and Phloem:-
Xylem:
1. Transports water and minerals from roots to shoots.
2. Movement occurs through passive processes like capillary action and transpiration pull.
3. Direction of flow is unidirectional, mainly upward.
4. Consists of dead cells called tracheids and vessel elements.
5. No energy expenditure is involved.

Phloem:
1. Transports organic nutrients like sugars and amino acids bidirectionally.
2. Movement occurs through active transport driven by pressure flow mechanism.
3. Direction of flow can be upward or downward.
4. Consists of living cells called sieve tubes and companion cells.
5. Requires energy expenditure for loading and unloading of solutes
