The mode of nutrition of insectivorous plants is called "carnivorous nutrition" or "carnivorous feeding." These plants capture and digest small insects and other prey to obtain nutrients such as nitrogen and phosphorus, which are often deficient in their habitats. Examples of insectivorous plants include Venus flytrap (Dionaea muscipula), pitcher plants (Nepenthes spp.), sundews (Drosera spp.), and bladderworts (Utricularia spp.).
