Photosynthesis and Respiration

Photosynthesis Process:

During the day, plants engage in photosynthesis, utilizing carbon dioxide, water, and light energy to produce glucose and oxygen.

Respiration Process:

Simultaneously, plants undergo cellular respiration, breaking down glucose in the presence of oxygen to release energy for cellular activities, producing carbon dioxide and water as byproducts.

Balance of Processes:

Under optimal conditions, photosynthesis typically outweighs respiration during the day, resulting in a net release of oxygen. However, variations in light intensity and metabolic demands can lead to fluctuations in oxygen and carbon dioxide levels.
