Guard cells regulate stomatal pore opening and closing through osmotic changes. When water enters guard cells, they swell, causing them to curve and the stomatal pore to open. Conversely, loss of water leads to guard cell contraction, closing the pore. This process maintains plant hydration and gas exchange
