The Union Public Service Commission declared the final results of the Civil Services Examination 2016 on its official website on Wednesday, 31 May, 2017.

Nandini KR from Karnataka is the topper of the examination. Nandini belongs to the Other Backward Category (OBC). Nandini KR qualified the exams with Kannada Literature as her optional subject. She is having a graduate degree in civil engineering from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bangalore.

Anmol Sher Singh Bedi secured the second top position followed by Gopalkrishna Ronanki, Saumya Pandey, Abhilash Mishra and Kothamasu Dinesh Kumar.

For various Government Services, around 1,099 candidates have been recommended, and 200 others are in the waiting list.

The Civil Services Examination also known as UPSC Exam is conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) annually in three stages – Preliminary or Prelims, Mains and Interview to select officers for various services like the Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) and others.

In year 2015 too, Tina Dabi, a girl from Delhi, was the topper of UPSC examination.

Out of the total selected candidates, as many as 180 candidates will be appointed in the Indian Administrative Services (IAS), 45 in the Indian Foreign Services (IFS), 150 in the Indian Police Services (IPS) and 834 in various other central government group A and B services.

Out of the total number of successful candidates in UPSC Exams, 500 candidates belong to the general category, 347 candidates to the Other Backward Class Category (OBC) followed by 163 candidates from Scheduled Castes (SC) and 89 candidates from Scheduled Tribe (ST) categories.

Highlights of Civil Services Exams Results 2016

UPSC preliminary exam was conducted on August 7, 2016.

Total 11,35,943 candidates applied for the preliminary examination but only 4,59,659 actually appeared. 

After preliminary exams, out of 11,35,943 only 15,452 candidates successfully qualified to be appeared in the written (main) examination that was held in the month of December, 2016.

Finally, 2,961 candidates successfully qualified for the personality test.

In the year 2016 results, among the all successful 1099 candidates, 846 are males and 253 are females. The above number of successful candidates also includes 44 physically handicapped candidates (22 candidates Orthopedically Handicapped (OH), 7 candidates Visually Challenged and 15 candidates Hearing Impaired).

Like 2015, again in 2016, a female candidate Nandini KR topped the examination. Nandini belongs to Other Backward Category (OBC). She choose the Kannada Literature as her optional subject in mains. She is holding a bachelor degree in Civil Engineering from MS Ramaiah Institute of Technology in Bangalore.

Second top position in UPSC Exams 2016 is secured by Anmol Sher Singh Bedi with rank second, and he is a topper among the male candidates. Anmol Sher Singh Bedi is Computer Science graduate from BITS, Pilani. Among 25 toppers of UPSC Exams 2016, there are 18 Men and 7 Women.
