“God looks at the clean hands, not the full ones”, is a well known maxim. Everybody hates you if you are not honest. No dishonest person can be sure of escaping punishments. Crimes are everywhere in the society, but honesty also exists. On the flip side of the coin, honesty carries its own rewards. An honest man need not fear from anybody or anything. He passes his days cheerfully. Honesty has other advantages too. An honest man is liked and respected by one and all, even though he may be poor or uneducated. He enjoys the confidence of all those who come in contact with him.
An honest man gets things on credit in the market. If he is in need of anything, people will not hesitate to help him by giving what he needs. If he is a businessman, customers will flock to him. Alexander Pope says, “An honest man is the noblest work of God.” Dishonesty may bring immediate gain, but in the long run it will lead one to ruin his life or career. Truth and honesty breed trust and confidence. In every walk of life, even the worst rogue, is bound to feel the force of truthful conduct. An honest man has more friends than dishonest, more peace than distraction. Success and happiness greet him everywhere always.
