Crime Against Women : Short Essay in English Language

Short paragraph on the topic ‘Crimes Against Women’ or ‘The Exploitation of Women’ in English language for students.

Since ancient times woman has always been treated as inferior to man in all societies. So different types of crimes in the shape of looting, rape, dowry torture, physical harassment have been in vogue in the metropolitan cities and villages. Powerful and notorious people even do not hesitate to kidnap a lady is the broad day light while she is on the road. In the colleges and the working places cases of crime are quite frequent.  Sometimes they have to run to save their honour.

Our society has always been called a male dominated world. Consequently a woman has remained his slave and since then she is under constant exploitation by man. Man has never treated her as an equal partner in life but as a mere subordinate. He considers the woman as the weaker vessel. She has been given many beautiful names. She has been called man’s better half. Women are known as the fair sex. They are called “Devi” (Goddess). But all these sugar coated words which have been used  by a man are nothing but a bait to beguile this beautiful creation of God. Otherwise she has been abused physically, sexually, morally, economically and also politically throughout the eras.

A woman has been used merely as a plaything, as a tool to satisfy man’s animal desires. This is because man is physically stronger than woman. He knows that a woman cannot win in the battle of muscles. That is why he has kept her in a stage of perpetual slavery throughout the ages. Thanks to the woman’s liberation movement, that the times are changing fast. Women are becoming alive to their rights. Education has gone a long way to improve their lot. But still much remains to be done for the women empowerment.
